HeartCode® Blended ASLS (online/skill)
The ASLS Blended Learning Course, created by the American Heart Association (AHA) in partnership with The University of Miami’s Gordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education, is designed to reduce death and disability in stroke patients. This advanced course is ideal for healthcare professionals in prehospital and in-hospital settings who manage acute stroke patients.
Course Format:
Blended learning with self-directed online modules followed by an in-person skills session with an ASLS Instructor. The adaptive online portion personalizes learning based on knowledge and confidence levels for optimal outcomes.
Learning Tracks:
- Prehospital: Stroke alert protocols, rapid transport, and clear hospital communication
- In-Hospital: Organized stroke care, acute management, secondary prevention, and post-acute care
- Combined Track: Covers both settings, ideal for providers working across environments and instructor candidates
Estimated Online Completion Time:
- Prehospital: 3–6 hours
- In-Hospital: 4–8 hours
- Combined: 5–9 hours
